At American Sailing Academy in Key Largo, we offer the Instructor Qualification Clinic (IQC), where you’ll be guided through the certification process. Whether you’re advancing your sailing career or looking for a new adventure, becoming an instructor is the perfect next step!
Requirements
- Age: Must be 18 or older
- Sailing Experience: At least 3 years of sailing experience required. Capable of performing to Standards as stated in ASA Log Book
- Teaching: Must have experience, or can demonstrate an aptitude for clearly communicating sailing to the novice and advanced sailor
- ASA certified: Must have the 101 Basic Keelboat level, or can challenge the written and practical exams at an ASA Affiliate School

- ASA 201 Basic Keelboat 1 Sailing Instructor = 3 days
- ASA 203 Basic Coastal Cruising Sailing Instructor = 1 day
- ASA 204 Advanced Coastal Cruising Sailing Instructor = 1 day
- ASA 202 Keelboat 2 Sailing Instructor = 1 day
- ASA 214 Cruising Catamaran Sailing Instructor = 1 days
